NOW LIVE – The Legend of Jamie Roberts, Volume 2

Now on Crowdfundr, it’s The Legend of Jamie Roberts, volume 2!

Jamie is not a boy or a girl – they’re a pirate! And they found this unfinished map with their friends, so they’re going treasure-hunting in an unexplored land. But along the way, Jamie and friends find magic, restless spirits, dragons, and a tyrant locked away for centuries, coming back to haunt the people across the land…

Volume 1 (which will be available as an add-on) collected Chapters 1 through 4 of The Legend of Jamie Roberts. What we’re asking for is funding for Volume 2, to get Chapters 5 through 8 in one shiny book – with bonus content!

WHY?

The Legend is the story I wish I had as a genderqueer teenager, trying to figure out my gender identity and my place in the world. Jamie is the protagonist my teenage self WISHES they had.

At first, I made The Legend of Jamie Roberts to fulfill my teenage wishes. Wishes for validation, magic, dragons, and adventure. And along the way, readers found The Legend – and REALLY resonated with the story. Which is how we’ve made it to 8 chapters long! And there are plans for more. But first…

WHAT’S IN VOLUME 2?

The Legend of Jamie Roberts, Volume 2 collects Chapters 5 through 8 of the webcomic, along with…

  • Remastered and retouched art
  • Bonus comics
  • Behind-the-scenes sketches and character bios

If you don’t have Volume 1 yet, that’s ok – Volume 1 is available as an add-on reward for this campaign! (You can also read the webcomic version for free, but the print edition has remastered art and bonus content not available on the website).

For Volume 2, we’re also working with a different printer – Comix Well Spring! They’re giving a partner’s discount for running this campaign on Crowdfundr, which means less printing cost, and a more affordable price for you, the backer!

So if you love pirates and dragons and magic and mayhem, what are you waiting for?!

Or share this update if you’re broke. Sharing is caring, and it helps more than you know. Be sure to do it BEFORE SEPT 1!

That’s all for now. Thank you for your support!

Tattoo Commission – Knight vs. Dragon

This enormous piece marked the first large tattoo I’ve been commissioned to make. I made this entirely in Clip Studio Paint, though the initial concept had been drawn in my Strathmore sketchbook.

I left the edging as-is so the tattoo artist could interpret the border as needed. They can add more smoke, do a fade, or do anything else they feel confident they can do.

If you like this piece, then I hope you consider working with me! I’m available for commissions. I have two sets of rates – one for commercial use, and one for personal use. In this case, this tattoo commission would fall under “personal use.”

To get a commission like this one for personal use, check out my rates on Ko-Fi.

If you have commercial work for me, email me at kelcidcrawford@gmail.com with more details. As detailed on my Hire Me page, I can do comic book covers, posters, and other work.

Thanks for checking out this piece!

Dragons: A Sketchbook Coming Soon

lady dragon watercolor marker sketch for inktober 2019

My newest book – Dragons: A Sketchbook – is coming to KickStarter soon. As in, in the next few days.

The trend of these sketchbooks started with Witches: A Sketchbook, which collected all of my Inktober sketches of witches from 2017. (Inktober is the artist challenge to draw with ink every day during October. Usually there’s an official prompt list. I ignore all of them.)

Last year, I followed this up with Gods & Spirits: A Sketchbook, collecting all of my Inktober sketches of gods and spirits.

This year for Inktober, I’ve been drawing dragons and nothing but dragons. And I’m loving it.

And soon, they’ll be in a sketchbook.

In previous years, I ran a KickStarter campaign to fund book printings AFTER Inktober wrapped up.

This year, I wanted to start the pre-order ball rolling sooner, because November is going to be a bit of a schedule whack-a-mole for me.

So here’s the deal: email newsletter subscribers are the first to get the news of the Dragons: A Sketchbook KickStarter launch. If you are NOT an email subscriber yet, get on that ASAP. There will be early-bird backer rewards available, and the best way to get them is to be on the newsletter.

Then – I’ll be at New Dimension Comics this Saturday for Halloween ComicsFest. If you check out my table there and back the KickStarter campaign on the spot, you’ll get some goodies from me in person.

After that, I’ll be posting links to the KickStarter campaign on social media on Monday.

How long will the KickStarter campaign last? You’ll have to see the campaign when it launches to find out.

The initial asking goal will be to cover the basics to make this book project happen. Stretch goals after that include:

  • a KickStarter backer-exclusive miniprint
  • a baby dragon sticker sheet
  • an appearance at a large comicon (hopefully near you)!

In short…

Get on the email newsletter if you want to back this KickStarter ASAP and get your hands on an early copy of this book.

If you’re broke, though, don’t stress – just share the link to the campaign when it finally launches. Every share helps more than you know.

Thank you so much for your support!
