It’s Genghis Con Time Again, Kids!

It’s time for Genghis Con once again, kids!

This will be my return to the show proper since 2019. They did not run in 2020 for obvious reasons, and in 2021 they did small pop-up events to keep crowds more manageable.

genghis con pop up event 2021

Now, Genghis Con is back for 2022, at the Pivot Center for Arts, Dance, and Expression in Cleveland, OH! The show runs on November 27 from 12 pm to 5 pm EST.

Yes, that IS the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It’s been their date to organize since I first started attending the show years ago. Masks WILL be required at the venue.

What I’m Bringing

I’m bringing some sales items from Aistear Con 3 that did NOT sell out yet. And yes, I’m keeping the sales prices active on these things.

Here are the things I’m selling on CLEARANCE:

  • My remaining stickers are $1 each, or $5 for a sticker sheet
  • Greeting Cards are $1 each, with a free envelope. A bundle of 10 cards is $5 while supplies last.
  • Mr. Dino’s postcards are $1 each. Proceeds will benefit the Zebra Coalition in Florida to help LGBTQ youth in a hostile state.
  • Prints smaller than 11 x 17 inches are now $1 each
  • Misprints of The Forest Spirit, an 11 x 17-inch print, are $5 each.
  • Grab bags are 2 for $5. Each grab bag has at least 1 sticker, 1 mini-print, and an extra couple of goodies.
  • My LAST Mermaid art piece is priced on a sliding scale. A $10 minimum is needed to cover art supplies.
  • If you buy The Legend of Jamie Roberts, Volume 1 (or its misprinted version), you get the Artifacts sticker sheet FREE.

I’m also bringing with me bagged and boarded original sketches at $10 each. This INCLUDES sketches made during the production of Witches, Gods & Spirits, and Dragons: The Sketchbooks.

For folks interested, I’m also running pre-orders for my new book, The Stars of Fantasyville: A Sketchbook, for folks who missed the KickStarter campaign. This will be kept simple – just $11 for the pre-order (that covers the book plus shipping). No extra PDFs or miscellaneous things, because those things are already on the table.

Plus! I’m bringing the remaining pins and zines left over from fulfilling Zine Club and Pin Club orders. My hope is by selling the remaining stock, folks get interested in signing up for the clubs. That way they get more delivered to their mailbox each month.

Before I Forget…

Since I’m at a convention, there will be no stream on Sunday (at least from me. What the Gnomes Know will be running streams). There won’t be a stream the following weekend, either, because I’ll be at GalaxyCon with the Columbus Cartoon Coalition.

That said, keep an eye on Instagram. I’ve been doing live streams there Fridays around 12 noon.

That’s all for now. Hope to see you at Genghis Con on the 27th!

The Stars of Fantasyville: A Sketchbook On KickStarter NOW UNTIL NOV 18

My new art book, The Stars of Fantasyville: A Sketchbook, is on KickStarter nowuntil November 18!

WHAT IS STARS OF FANTASYVILLE: A SKETCHBOOK?

Let’s answer your question with another question: do you know about Inktober?

Inktober is the artists’ challenge to draw in ink every day in October. It’s an art challenge I have done every year since 2017. And when I do, I often collect the Inktober sketches of that year and gather them into a new book!

In the past, I’ve drawn Witches, Gods & Spirits, Dragons, and even a webcomic called PuzzleSpell.

For Inktober this year, I drew the characters that feature in my comics, roleplaying games, novels, and other stories! Every sketch is drawn with Copic markers, Zebra brush pens, and Strathmore paper, and adjusted for printing in Clip Studio Paint. I have gathered all the sketches from Inktober this year and put them into Stars of Fantasyville: A Sketchbook.

And now, you can pre-order a copy of your own!

What I’m Asking For

To make this book happen, I’m asking for $700 by November 18. As of this post, we’ve raised $485, and we have 8 days left.

What will that money be used for? Well, I broke it down in this pie chart I drew:

processing fees - $62.
printer set-up fee - $35.
Print 100 copies - $247.
Shipping books to me - $35.
Shipping books to customers - $150.
ISBN and Barcode - $150.

Why do I want to print 100 copies?

Ok. I mentioned this in my post about Aistear Con 3, but I’ll state it here, as well: books are my best category when I go to conventions. So to prepare for conventions next year, I would LOVE it if I had as many copies as possible in my inventory. Nothing sucks worse than getting ready for a show and realizing, “Oh dang, I forgot to re-order books and now I only have 2 copies of this title left.”

What Can You Get for Backing This Campaign?

I kept the rewards list simple: digital and physical copies of The Stars of Fantasyville: A Sketchbook, and PDF copies of all the Inktober sketchbooks of years past.

Because here’s the secret: I have a LOT of add-ons you can include with your rewards!

Add-on options include (but are not limited to)…

The PDF of PuzzleSpell the webcomic, copies of my other books, commissions, keychains, pins, and subscriptions!

If you’re able, back this KickStarter BEFORE NOVEMBER 18, yo.

back this campaign!

If you’re broke, share this post! Every share helps.

That’s all for now. Thank you for your support!

No Streams During November 2022’s First Week

There will be no streams during November 2022’s first week. I will be out of town on vacation from Nov 4 through 6.

However! I will be on a special stream on November 7. That’s the day What the Gnomes Know: A Comics Anthology launches on KickStarter!

Speaking of KickStarter, I have a new book! The Stars of Fantasyville: A Sketchbook collects all of my Inktober sketches in one book. You can pre-order it now, and get a variety of add-ons to customize your reward package.

Stay tuned to this blog – more posts are coming to make up for the streaming schedule disruption.

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading!

Stream Schedule for the Last Week of October 2022

live streams every saturday and sunday at 2 pm est*. 10/29 Twitch - off (rebranding). 10/30 YouTube - Final Countdown of Inktober 2022. The bottom block said twitch.tv/kelcidcrawford and youtube.com/c/kelcid. *subject to change whenever the heck I feel like it - or because of conventions or the cruds.

Here is the streaming schedule for the final week of October 2022!

This Saturday, October 29, I’m not streaming. I’m rebranding my Twitch channel to shift more toward tabletop RPG topics.

This Sunday, October 30, I’m streaming on YouTube at 2 pm EST. On that day, I’m drawing for Inktober! Inktober is the artist’s challenge of making a new ink drawing every day during the month of October. It’s the final days of Inktober, so I’m drawing the final sketches, showing the sketches for the month…and talking up a new KickStarter campaign to get these sketches to print.

If there are any changes to the schedule, I will post the update here on this site.

That’s all for now. Thank you for tuning in!

Subscribe Page FAQs

Let’s address some frequently asked questions regarding my Subscribe Page and the Fan Clubs. (UPDATED JUNE 15, 2023)

“What is this?”

Subscribe is the home for my Fan Clubs. I made these Fan Clubs as an alternative to Patreon. For as little as $3 per month, you get supporter-exclusive content. But if you still have questions, I hope this page helps.

“Why build your own service? Why not use Ko-fi or Patreon?”

I’ve written this before in other posts and in emails. But I’ll say it again here. Patreon has, and continues to have, a lot of issues going on behind the scenes (like finding out they let go of their security team and why. Which – YIKES). In the past, that’s why I moved away from Patreon and towards Ko-fi.

However, Ko-fi is starting to not like the latest pages of my webcomic, The Legend of Jamie Roberts. Because how dare I depict male nipples or incorporate the F-word into my product listings?

To be honest, both of these platforms are starting to feel limiting. If I want to make the comics I want to draw and that you want to read, we have to find an alternative ourselves. That’s why I built the Subscribe Page for the Fan Clubs.

For a full breakdown of why I built my own alternative, check out this video or even this post where I chat with my artist buddy Jade, who also left Patreon.

“Do I have to make an account?”

Nope! Stripe processes the payments. All it needs is a name, email, address (if you’re getting things mailed to you), and a payment method. That’s it! No account needed.

“I want to Subscribe to one of your Fan Clubs. Do I pay for one month at a time, or pay for the number of months I want to subscribe?”

The system is set up so that when you purchase a membership, you’re charged for your first month on checkout. After that, the membership renews based on your sign-up date. (e.g. if you join on the 1st, you buy for one month, and you get charged again on the 1st of the following month). So if you only want to pledge for a certain number of months, that’s up to you to track it. You can manage your membership at any time by going to this page.

“Can I buy a Membership for a year so I’m only charged once?”

As of right now, there’s only one way to Subscribe to one of the Fan Clubs for a year, and that is to back one of my crowdfunding campaigns on KickStarter, Crowdfundr, or Ko-Fi. One-year memberships are available during campaigns as an add-on reward.

“My financial situation has changed. How do I cancel my Membership?”

You can manage your memberships here.

If all else fails, there should be a link on your email receipt with the option to cancel your memberships. If you can’t find it, reach out to me at kelcidcrawford@gmail.com and I can cancel it for you. No questions asked.

“Will you list your Club Rewards in your Ko-Fi shop?”

It depends on the rewards. If they DO go to my shop, they are usually posted one month after Club members receive their rewards. Club members, as always, get first dibs.

Still have questions? Leave a comment and let me know. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

That’s all for now. Thank you for reading!
