PIX 2017 Was Awesome

by

Pittsburgh Indie Comix Expo happened on Sunday and it was GREAT to be there! Got to meet lots of cool punx and zinesters. Today’s video highlights the zines and comics I got while I was there.

It was also just a good weekend overall. I got to step away from social media and focus on comics, from producing to selling, and it helped put a lot of things into perspective.

For instance, I have an idea, which I’ll elaborate on in a future blog post, that I’m not announcing quite yet until I write up a rough plan for it. Of course there are comics and zine ideas I got from PIX, too.

But one of the epiphanies I had was in regards to social media. Specifically, Twitter.

This is the second or third time I’ve seriously considered leaving Twitter, and I have a rule for myself that if I seriously consider leaving a thing or a person three times, I have to act on it.

But I’ll explain that in another post. Just know that PIX was awesome, and it helped bring me back to focus on what’s really important.

And before I forget, here’s the links to the zines I got and the creators who made them:

Embroidery Zine (listed as www.babe.city but I couldn’t get the link to work. So find her on instagram @annesley.bug)

Review Day Tuesdays Return…Next Week

by

Review Day Tuesdays are my short YouTube videos where I review indie comics and novels. I had put the series on hiatus because, at the time, there was a LOT going on.

Now, I have more free time, since I’m freelancing full-time now, so Review Day Tuesdays are coming back next week.

The original plan was to bring it back on February 28th, but I’m not quite done with the script yet. The plan is to review the novel The Museum of Intangible Things by Wendy Wunder, and there’s a LOT to cover with that book. That’s why it’s talking a little longer than usual to get the script done, and then record and edit the video.

So for now, expect the Review Day Tuesdays series to start back up again on March 7th.

I can’t wait to share The Museum of Intangible Things with you. So stay tuned!

Thank you for your support.

Poetry for Troubled Times: “Throw Yourself Like Seed”

by

Today’s poem is “Throw Yourself Like Seed” by Miguel de Unamuno, translated by Robert Bly.

During these troubling times, I hope this poem inspires you. I know it inspires me.

More poetry is coming soon!

Thanks for watching.

The First Vlog of 2016

by

In this episode I wanted to replace my old introduction video (because the old one was filmed back when I lived in Arizona) and talk a bit about what I want to cover on my YouTube Channel.

I also wanted to iterate the fact that videos and video editing are, for me, just a hobby. I have NO intention of becoming the next big YouTuber (whatever that means) or becoming a celebrity. I just want to make this series to have fun and let you in on the fun, as well.

(By the way, if you want to get video updates a day early or get to see video and comic scripts, that’s what my Patreon page is for).

Also, yes! I now have a personal Patreon page to fund projects like Thoughtful Dinosaur and The Legend of Jamie Roberts. If you haven’t checked it out yet, please do! There’s tons of perks available.

I want to reiterate – my personal Patreon page has nothing to do with Validation. Validation has its own Patreon page. The personal one is for all the other comics I make.

I gotta hit the drawing board again. That’s all for now.

Thanks for watching!
