Alright! I’m back from RathaCon in Athens, OH. Not a whole lot of sales were made, but lots of folks signed up for the email newsletter and, by the sounds of it, I got a comic shop in the area interested in consigning my books. Plus I got to meet an indie filmmaker looking for pitches (I’ll get to him in the next post), and a T-shirt designer who REALLY liked my Dia de la Gata card design and wanted to get that on a shirt. (I’ll get to that in the blog post after the one about the filmmaker.) Continue reading “Bringing Blog Posts Back!”
PIX 2017 Was Awesome
Pittsburgh Indie Comix Expo happened on Sunday and it was GREAT to be there! Got to meet lots of cool punx and zinesters. Today’s video highlights the zines and comics I got while I was there.
It was also just a good weekend overall. I got to step away from social media and focus on comics, from producing to selling, and it helped put a lot of things into perspective.
For instance, I have an idea, which I’ll elaborate on in a future blog post, that I’m not announcing quite yet until I write up a rough plan for it. Of course there are comics and zine ideas I got from PIX, too.
But one of the epiphanies I had was in regards to social media. Specifically, Twitter.
This is the second or third time I’ve seriously considered leaving Twitter, and I have a rule for myself that if I seriously consider leaving a thing or a person three times, I have to act on it.
But I’ll explain that in another post. Just know that PIX was awesome, and it helped bring me back to focus on what’s really important.
And before I forget, here’s the links to the zines I got and the creators who made them:

How You Can Help
There’s a lot to look forward to this month – from Thoughtful Dinosaur books to the launch of The Case of the Wendigo on October 18th, and more illustration updates for the Patreon page.
All of this storming creativity has made me realize…
I need to quit my day job… soon-ish.
See, I work at a craft store as both cleaning person and person who stocks shelves. As it turns out, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the bathrooms of a 10,000 square foot store and then climbing up and down stairs moving 100+ pound boxes of books, rocks, and glass is REALLY exhausting work. And there are some days, especially recently, that feel like the job wants to pile MORE work on me for a multitude of reasons.
So… yeah, I’m going to start looking for opportunities in other avenues. I want to take it easier on my body and find some things I can do to make that happen.
How can you help? Well, here’s some ways presented in an “if-you-then-you” format.

Tank Girl and Follow The Leader: Review Day Tuesday
Here’s where you can read Follow the Leader online by Jonas McCluggage (otherwise known as Jonas Goonface). If you really like it, go to his Patreon page.
I mention this at the end of today’s video, but I’m considering cancelling Review Day Tuesdays and/or the YouTube video series altogether to focus more on making comics and art. But then again, I could show you how I MAKE said art and comics. Let me know your thoughts in the comments:
Should I continue Review Day Tuesdays? Should I make video about my art and comics instead? Or should I just make comics?
I have a few ideas (like, making videos showing how I make work) but be honest and let me know.
Also, if you’ve read Tank Girl or Follow the Leader, leave a comment and let me know what you thought!
Thanks for watching.
