DCC and an Announcement!

Gregory. The dashing business man with a hidden silly side. That tie has skulls on it, by the way.

And….I didn’t know what to do with the background, so I just drew that.

I really wanted to just play with drawing in a more realistic style than I’m used to, so I made his eyes smaller than I usually would make them and I tried to stick to more naturalistic proportions. I’m not sure it worked this time, but I’d like to give it another go at some point. This is a style of art I want to add to my arsenal, along with my usual style and my caricaturing art style.

ALSO: The Announcement! This is very exciting.

I am currently in the plans of creating a webcomic. A long-ass webcomic. One that will take a while.

The fact that it’s long surprised me, but I have the first act scripted out, and ready to make into final pages. I’ll be outlining acts two and three over the next two weeks. I’m not worried about not finishing this: I’ve been working on this series for years, yes, but this story that I have ready, NOW, is the best I’ve made it so far, and I’m VERY confident in it. And (this is going to sound weird) the characters are ready to be seen.

You’ll recognize one of the main characters already: Thomas.

He’s one of the main characters, but the main main one is a surprise.

As for the release date? I’m projecting for sometime before the end of October. Nothing solid yet. I’ll keep you folks clued when I decide on that over the next couple of days.

But start getting excited, and Don’t Forget to Be Awesome! :D

DCC: Day 3

This is Burnt.

He’s a half-orc half-human man I created as part of a D&D campaign with my friends.

He’s calm, he’s cool, he’s collected, he’s deathly afraid of bats. And he can wield a halberd like nobody’s business.

He’s also my third character in this Daily Character Challenge, the challenge where I draw a new character every day for thirty days. I’ve got 27 more days to go!

DCC: Day 2

Day TWO of the Daily Character Challenge.

Took me a while to post this. Sorry! I ended up having a surprise sleepover at a friend’s house and I didn’t get back home until just now.

At least this temptress I drew was waiting patiently to show herself to the world.

Her name is Farunti, and she looks like some kind of genie. But she likes to lure men into thinking that, and steals their souls. Her tattoos and pointed ears reveal her demon heritage.

I was hoping her tattoos would turn out better in the scan, because they seem so light to me. Oh well.

She was drawn with Copic markers, pens, and the cloud background is watercolor.

Daily Character Challenge: The First Character…

And so it has begun…

This is the Daily Character Challenge I am starting now: the challenge is to draw one new, original character every day for 30 days. It doesn’t have to be as finished as the image above–in fact, it’s perfectly ok if you just make a sketch. The point is to create new people and keep your ideas fresh.

This very serious sir is Sir Galifrey McGuiness. He’s a knight from Scotland, one of the best in the army…

And he loves cats. Yes he does. The one rubbing on his foot is one he named Clarisse, after his four-year-old daughter.

IN OTHER NEWS…

Copies of the IF-X Anthology are still coming. I’ll keep you posted on when they come in.

I’m still open for commissions. And if you want a special request besides what I’m offering, I’m flexible…within reason.

And check out ChrisOatley.com. Right now. It’s possibly the most inspirational art tutorial collections I’ve ever seen. The dude’s an artist working in Disney in California right now, and he’s awesome. :D

Don’t Forget to Be Awesome, and I’ll see you again soon!

Available for Commissions!

YES!

With all the free time I have due to working part-time for right now, and the need to pay for table spaces at Artist Alleys coming up next year, I am now available for anyone to commission my work! Isn’t that exciting?

I have no limits of how many commissions I can take right now, though if I get absolutely swamped with them, I’ll keep you guys posted about what I’ll do then.

Please keep in mind, though:

I work in traditional media ONLY. These commissions will be made with pens and Copic/Prismacolor markers unless you ask for a watercolor sketch (which I can do. Those will have the same prices as the color marker sketches).

You will get a scan of your commission put up on deviantART and here on my blog. If you would like the original shipped to you, I can do that, but it’ll be an extra $3 for shipping costs. If you do NOT want your commission posted online for any reason, I won’t post it, but I will have to ship your commission to you so you’ll get it somehow.

Black and White pen and marker work:

$5 bust for one character (+$3 for each extra character). No background.
$7 half-body for one character (+$5 for each extra character). No background.
$10 full-body for one character (+$7 for each extra character). No background.
Backgrounds are an extra $5 for each of these.

Copic marker and pen, or Watercolor, work:

$8 bust for one character (+$6 for each extra character). No background.
$10 half-body for one character (+$8 for each extra character). No background.
$12 full-body for one character (+$10 for each extra character). No background.
Backgrounds are an extra $8 for each of these.

I CAN do special requests that do not fit these, such as comic pages, paintings, or landscapes. Just ask and we can discuss it.

Samples can be seen throughout my gallery on deviantART.

General Info:

PayPal MUCH preferred. But you can pay me in the form of giving me an iTunes gift card, as well, if that’s your thing.

I can draw fanart AND original characters, your own or otherwise. But please be kind and include references of who you want me to draw. :D

Please no furries, mechas, or porn/fetish. Cheeky or risque is ok, but I have to approve of it first.

Speaking of which, I have the right to refuse to do a commission, if I think it’s too vulgar or difficult to draw.

Prices are all in US Dollars.

Please pay up front, no half now and half later. If for some strange reason I ABSOLUTELY cannot finish your commission, I will refund your money to you in full.

If you are interested in asking for a commission, please email me at kelcidcrawford @ gmail (dot) com.

Thanks very much!
